Junior tough guy and gal challenge

On the 4th of August it was the junior tough guy and gal challenge.   When we arrived at Palmerston North it was about 50 mins before the race. Later on the race started the blue went first then green then the red .  At the start of the race there were a few patches of mud.  100 meters later there was a swamp of freezing water.  After that there was a couple of tall walls that you had to climb over. A few minutes later there was some ups and downs. Our favourite part was a very very dark tunnel and we kept on touching each other . At the end everyone gets a loaded powerade zero. Then the fire brigade gave us a wash  off  then a hot shower.  After we had something to eat. 20 mins later we did spot prizes Benji got a spot prize it was a lego set and then we went home.

Visit to the Life Education van - Tevita Faletau and Caleb Keenan

Today the class went to life education. We learned about five team rules. Flexibility, focus, communication, respect and reliability. We learnt an action to remind us about each one.
Flexibility is all about dealing with change. Focus is about listening to the speaker and don’t get distracted. Communication is about responding and listening. Respect is about helping people when they fall down and show the speaker respect. Reliability is about if someone said “Can you pick up my pen?”, you do it.

I enjoyed standing up at the middle of the van, showing how the people to do the actions.

Tevita

Today we went to life education. We learned about five team rules. They were:
Flexibility, focus, respect, reliability, and communication.
Flexibility means dealing with change. Focus means to keep on your work. Respect means take care of your things. Reliability mean if you say you're going to do something you do it calm. Communication means if someone wants to something let them, listen, comment, ask questions and respond.

What I enjoyed, doing the actions. Paula showed us actions so we could remember them.
What was hard, writing this.
What would I do differently next time, go up the front and read the five rules

Visit from Jan Logie of the Green Party - Lily Dickinson & Taliia U'a

Jan Logie from the Green

Election is in September!

\
The prime minister is Bill English.
There are are seven parties. They are the green party, the maori party, labour party, national party, A.C.T party, NZ party and the future party.

A visitor from the green party came to school. She was there to talk about her job. Because the election is in September and our topic is about elections: Your voice, your choice: Have your say! Her job is to make sure that there are enough trees in New Zealand.

The deputy P.M (prime minister) is Paula Benetts. You have to be eighteen to vote. In NZ people in jail can't vote. Some people want to lower the age limit to vote. You don't have to vote but you do have to enrol to vote.

the lost village

THE LOST VILLAGE

Once there was a very ordinary city with very ordinary busy roads. But everyone in the city wanted to live a simple life and leave the busy city. One day the mayor said that they would search for a village and go into the jungle. Everyone agreed with him.

The next day they set off into the jungle.  It was a deep green and every one felt petrified that some thing would bite them. They walked for many days and slept in the shelter of an awasis. One day they came across an odd form of leaves. It was like a door. They pushed apart the leaves and saw the most astonishing sight...

The sight they saw was an overgrown village covered in vines. every one decided to explore. The main reason was to make sure there  were no traps. Luckily there were none so the mayor made a decision.

the mayor decided they would live there. Everyone was so happy because all they needed to do was clean up and settle in.Now they could all live the simple life they wanted.

JAMES AND ZACS RUGBYS

                                                             rugby
James and Zac have rugby games on Saturday practise on Fridays.
Zac is  forward and James is centre.
For our first game we played on our home ground Waikanae we vs Paraparaumu.
We are a u9s Team so we only vs u9s .
We won the game because we got 25 they got 24
and we are allowed to fend 🐱
James scored 3 tries and Zac accidentally did a forward pass to Nikau. He did not catch it because
he knew it was a forward pass and it would of been a penalty.
That was our game.

One of my ancestors Frederick Savage made all sorts of  funny engines. I do not know how because he was dyslexic. He even invented merry go rounds. He didn't even know how to do his maths, reading and writing, but I am pretty sure he made car engines is well.    Here is a picture of him  Image result for frederick savage

Get NZ writing! - Otto Minnaar

New Zealand has been doing this post card thing. Our class decided to do it.  It has a poster with questions like places our parents grew up and stuff like that.  Our buddy school sent us post cards here are some of are some of our favourites:

Room 3  is a hungry dragon just woken from a long sleep eager to take on the world.
Eden is fish and chips all greasy on my fingers.
Isaiah is a hollow tree home to all critters and Leyla is a zoo full of chattering birds .

Kaimai school sent us their poster and its really cool! The amazing thing is that my mum Sonia used to live very close to Kaimai school.  Probably if mum didn't go to the school that she did go to she would go to Kaimai school. We go through the Kaimai Range on the way to Tauranga .

The Tasmanian Devil

The tasmanian devil

Once upon a time there was a baby tasmanian devil .
He sniffed the air “seems safe” he thought his tummy rumbled. He hadn't had any food since he saw his mother but that was a month ago now.

His ears pricked up “was it a rabbit?” the country of tasmania was so dry this summer so the rabbit was weak and in search of water. He pounced he finally had food. He bit into it yum delicious.

“Now time to find my mum.”

One hour,two hours,three hours
“ glad I saved some rabbit from dinner he said as his stomach rumbled yet again “ excuse me what are you doing  in the middle of tasmania?” asked a female tasmanian devil he did not answer “What is your name?” she asked “george” he replied “george what?”
George thimbleton” he said.

“GEORGE” She said and they all lived happily ever after

Te Papa Trip - James Savage

One bright sunny day my class travelled to Te Papa.
My group saw the center of the earth explode in our faces’, a dinosaur skeleton, the bug burger but most favourite was in the bug lab it was … bees vs hornet! It was amazing but your hands would get very very tired.

One place was very interesting, very bright, it was the smooth shiny marble which opens and closes. It had fish in the water, frogs jumping from the grass into the water and the big fat dragonflies which went up and down around and in circles.

The best thing outside bug lab was the wibbly wobbly earth quake house. That shook side to side. The squid was fantastic. It was amazing how did they put a dead squid in a tank with shiny glass but dirty water? And the dinosaur was buried in little stones shining on the sun and we buried Tevita in the stones.

Back into the bug lab there was a man that told us about mosquitoes that they can kill millions of people each year but there are only 3 types that can kill you.
